Gounod

Charles Gounod was a Parisian-born French composer most known for his Ave Maria (based on Bach) and his two operas, Faust and Romeo and Juliet. He loved sacred music from the Renaissance and even considered entering the priesthood. Much of Gounod's music is linked to vocal music. His musical style is conservative and always "appropriate sounding".
