Rey

 

Ignacio del Rey began his music studies in 1997 at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Salamanca (Spain) under the supervision of Professor Juan Francisco Aránega. He graduated in 2007 the middle grade with a mean of “Excellent”. As a result, the Regional Government of Castile & Leon awarded him a grant for “Excellent Academic Progress”.

In 2008 he was accepted at the Higher Conservatory of Music in Salamanca under Professor Rubén Prades, obtainining a Bachelor ́s degree in Music Performance (Trombone) in June 2012, being awarded an Honorable Mention in the End of Degree Exam.

In June 2010, he was admitted to the Barenboim-Said Academy of Orchestral Studies of the Regional Government of Andalusia (Seville, Spain) under Professor Martin Reinhardt (Bass Trombone of the Copenhagen Philharmonic) and Professor Tomer Maschkowski (Bass Trombone of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, Berlin), an Institution at which he studied for three years.

In addition, since 2010 he is studying privately with Francisco J. Rosario Vega (Principal Trombone of Royal Symphony Orchestra of Sevile, Spain).

He received his Master of Music in Trombone Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University where he studied under the supervision of Jay Friedman and Reed Capshaw. Since 2014 he is Associate Member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

He has played with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Castile & Leon Symphony Orchestra, Granada Symphony Orchestra, Royal Symphony Orchestra of Sevile, Presjovem Symphony Orchestra, Xenakis Project Orchestra, the Municipal Band of Salamanca or the Castile & Leon Youth Symphony Band. He was associate member of the Schleswig–Holstein Festival Orchestra (Germany) and the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (Holland). He has been able to work under the batons of Esa Pekka Salonen, Charles Dutoit, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Sir Mark Elder, Vasily Petrenko, Lionel Bringuier, Enrique García Asensio, José Luis López Cobos, Nicholas Kramer, Henrie Adams, Lutz Köhler, Jaime Martín, Pablo González, Keri-lynn Wylsom or Arturo Tamayo.

He has attended courses with Sean Engel, Stefan Schulz, Mark Fisher, Francisco Rosario, Elies Hernandis, Ximo Vicedo, Juan Carlos Matamoros or Santiago Blanco.

He has been trombone teacher in the Municipal School of Music of Villamayor and Peñaranda de Bracamonte both of them in the province of Salamanca, Spain. In addition, since August 2015, he was the trombone teacher of the XIII International Music Campus “Villa del Tiemblo”. In January 2016, he was invited as guest artist at the Professional Conservatory of Salamanca, Spain.

 Furthermore, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Salamanca.
