Sparkes

Douglas Sparkes, Bass Trombonist was born in the Toronto area and graduated from the University of Toronto, having studied Trombone with Ralph Sauer. His teachers also included Edward Kleinhammer and Arnold Jacobs. Doug performed with the National Youth Orchestra and then became a member of the Hamilton Philharmonic and the National Arts Center Orchestra. Since 1974 he has been the Bass Trombonist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and has taught at the University of British Columbia and many other local academies.
